Upended tram wheels rusted, never to spin again along the broken overgrown line in despair of its lost destination. Brown-tufted grass, wind-fanned on pregnant coal heaps ill disguised the underlying wretched and surplus blackness. Cinder boulders of red ash like giant mammoths squatted next to the stone-strewn river polluted with waste of coal and iron. Facing the chimneyed ironwork ruins two green-stoned Roundtowers, one derelict, completed a debris of childhood memories |
