Letting Go
You couldn't let it go
The anger, pain,and turmoil
She was your wild sister
untamed, embarassing
Different from you
from the same pain
drunken father, bitter mother
You drew up into yourself
She lashed out
Both battered to the soul
You despised her
The rebellion you never joined
You judged her
The mistakes you never risked
You fought her
The truth you never faced
Now at her passing
so many years before yours
As she fights something greater
then the sickness of her family
The sum of her mistakes
The total of your grievances
You won't let go
Holding on to your grudges
not her hand
Embracing old wrongs
not her wasted arms
Walking away without
the peace she has
Turning away from her
husband for loving her
Forgetting her child
so he will never see
the part of her
that you shared
Never let go
